Academy

Parkside Primary School has converted to being an academy from the 1st September 2016. This means that Parkside is now a member of the Creative Learning Partnership Trust. The Creative Learning Partnership Trust is built on a number of shared principles between Parkside Primary School alongside Hempstalls Primary School in Newcastle Under Lyme (an outstanding teaching school.)

The trust is expected to formalise the existing strong links and collaborative approach that are already in place. The educational partner of the teaching school alliance has already been highly effective in establishing the journey of collaborative learning between schools and the MAT will be a vehicle to enhance this further.

Thursfield Primary School                             Sponsored Academy

 

The Department of education has now formally accepted the Trust as a Sponsor.

 Our mission and purpose: We are an aspirational trust committed to ensuring that all pupils within our care fulfill their true potential. Our mantra is all about achieving better outcomes for every pupil that enters each of our schools. Our communities are built upon trust, tolerance and an appreciation of diversity and equality, each stakeholder working together and sharing success for all.

We wish to create a partnership of schools that collaborate together to enhance and enrich the lives of young people where there are no limits to what they can achieve, where excellence is a way of life.

 

Our aims:

  • The trust will deliver outstanding learning opportunities both within and beyond the school day always looking at ways of further enhancing the quality of educational provision.
  • Deliver a creative and inspiring curriculum which is pertinent to the needs of the pupils.

  • To provide a happy, stimulating and creative learning environment that caters for the needs of all pupils.

Names of Members

The Creative Learning Partnership Trust has 5 members who meet annually. These members are: Mr Cartlidge, Mr Barbour, Mr Davies, Mr Fletcher and Mr Blackhurst. They bring together a skills set that covers the financial, legal, HR and educational requirements of the MAT

 

Names of Trustees

The Creative Learning Partnership Trust has 8 trustees who are accountable for the strategic direction of the Trust and the schools within it. These trustees are: Mrs Austen,(Chair), Mr Gibbons (Vice Chair) Mr Davies, Mr Compton, Mrs Bennett, Father Derek Lloyd, Mr R. Owen, Mrs Cheadle and Mrs L. Thorley (Associate Trustee) . The trustees have a variety of skills to develop the Trust based on finances, governance, educational outcomes and legal. The trust clerk is Mrs Fiona Stagg.

 

The Chief Executive Officer of the Creative Learning Partnership and the accounting officer is Mrs Lynne Bennett (Headteacher of Hempstalls Primary School). The Chief Operating Officer and chief financial officer is Mr Sam Compton (Headteacher of Parkside Primary School), supported by Mrs Knapper and Mrs Barbour.  The accountants and auditors are Hardings and the MAT receive financial support from cdbc education business consultancy.

 

 

What is an academy?

An academy is essentially an independent school who receives its funding from central government rather than the local authority.

What are the benefits of being an academy?

Academies are independent of local authority control- this means that academies have more freedom. Academies receive their funding from central government and so academies will receive more funding. Academies have more freedom over the teaching of the curriculum, the Parkside Adventure. Academies have more freedom to undertake innovative projects.

Will the admissions criteria change?

No as an academy we are still bound by the national admissions code and admissions appeals code.

Will staff leave?

If the school converts to an academy all the staff will transfer to the Creative Learning Partnership on their current pay and conditions.

Will the school change?

We do not intend to change Parkside Primary School except in ways which we think will improve the school. For pupils and parents it will be unlikely they will see many changes. Parkside Primary School's adventure is working well and the intention is this decision will strengthen it rather than weaken anything.
