Homework

Easter Holiday Homework

When we return after the Easter break, there will only be 8 school days until the week of the KS2 Government Tests. It is really important that I set the children some homework so that they continue to practise the skills we have been working so hard on in class.

As I am aware that a number of children are going to be going away for some, or indeed all of the Easter holidays, I will be sending their homework home with them on Monday 3rd April. This will allow some children a week to complete it before they go away; for those children not going away, it will allow them three weeks to complete their homework. All homework needs to be completed and returned to school on Monday 24th April.

The homework set will be:

PaG Test Paper - the allocated time for this is 45 minutes

Arithmetic Paper - the allocated time for this is 30 minutes

Reasoning Paper 1 - the allocated time for this is 40 minutes

Reasoning Paper 2 - the allocated time for this is 40 minutes

In total, homework set should not take any longer than just over 2 and a half hours (2 hours 35 minutes)

Thank you for your continued support.

Week 27th March

In view of the fact that quite a number of children still have pages to complete in their white maths revision books, I want this to be their focus for homework this week. The children are all at different stages in their books - depending on how much they have completed during allocated class time, as well as how much they have chosen to complete in their own time. Through this week they need to be spending about 30 minutes - each day - working in these books. As some children have commitments out of school on certain days, it does not matter if they choose to spend no time one day and an hour another day - so long as over the course of the next 4 days they spend 2 hours in total.

Many thanks

Mrs Farmer

From Monday 13th March the homework set on a Monday will be either a PaG paper or a Maths Reasoning Paper. These will be due in on Wednesday. This will replace the Reading Test I have been sending home as this has not been working particularly well - so any assessment in reading will be done only in school from now on.

Homework after February Half-Term

Following the half-term the Year Six homework will be as follows:

Monday: Reading Paper to be completed by Wednesday - this should take no more than one hour over the two nights

Wednesday: Maths Reasoning Paper to be completed by Friday  - this should take no more than 40 minutes over the two nights

Friday: Maths Arithmetic Paper and PaG worksheets/paper - both to be completed by Monday

Spellings will continue to be set on a Monday and will be tested each Friday. Please encourage your child to go on to Spellodrome and Mathletics as much as they can.

Wednesday 15th February

Whilst there is no set homework today, your child has been reminded that they will be having their end of half-term spelling test towards the end of this week so the more they practise these words, the better.

Tuesday 14th February

There is no set homework today. However, some of the children have chosen to carry on drafting out their ideas for writing tonight so they are ready to move on tomorrow. This is tremendous and shows the responsibility they are taking for their own learning!
