Tuesday 9th January 2018
Winter Wonderland topic Launch Day.
What a great start to our topic, we hope your child has told you all about it.
A mystery box arrived on a sledge delivering our new class texts 'The Snowman' and 'Where Snowflakes Fall'. We started with the DVD of The Snowman, which inspired some amazing art work. We listened to the music 'Walking in the air' by Howard Blake, moving in time to the music using ribbons and chiffons. We explored and experienced snow - even on a day where it doesn't snow it can at Parkside!

2nd February
What a busy term we are having learning through our class text, which has been a great inspiration for our writing.
Thank you parents for all your support with the cursive formation you are working on at home and for attending the weekly target sessions. Please continue to send in any evidence you have for your child's Learning Journey.

Friday 16th February
We have had a fabulous end to this term, with the arrival of a penguin! Which inspired research, art, design and writing. We all had a go at flipping pancakes on Shrove Tuesday (no hot pans!) and finally Chinese New Year. The whole of the Early Years foundation stage joined together to celebrate Chinese New Year, we really stood out dressed in red and traditional costume, thank you parents for your support. The children made lanterns, fans, masks and tried hard to learn to count and write in Chinese. They enjoyed the food tasting, trying so hard to master the chop sticks. They listened to music and created lion and dragon dances.

Monday 26th March
Parent Project - Easter hats
Thank you for joining us for a traditional and creative afternoon. We have been learning about this Easter event and linked it to the text Mrs Honey's Hat. The children created beautiful individual designs before making their hats with you. All of their hats are unique and they are very proud of them. We shall be having an Easter hat parade around school on Thursday.

Thursday 29th March
Thank you for attending the open door maths morning. The children were proud to show you how they are learning. We hope you found it helpful.
