Reception

Welcome to the 'Reception Rockets' class page

Our 'Fabulous Finish'

Yesterday, we went off into the woods (in the grounds), we found lots of clues to remind us of our time in Reception, witches hats, spiders, gingerbread men, snowmen, bears, butterflies and favourite stories. We had a debate - Should we keep the butterflies or let them go? The children decided to release them, we watched them fly off (one returned to see us later on). We ate snowballs (marshmallows) and gingerbread men too. See photographs below.

Today parents came to our drop in afternoon to see our Learning Journeys and have afternoon tea. It has been a 'Fabulous Finish'.

July 2014

Our caterpillars soon started to grow. The children have observed the rapid and remarkable transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis. Today the first butterfly emerged. See photographs in the gallery below.

June 2014

We have received a special delivery - 5 hungry caterpillars have arrived.

May 2014

The children are enjoying our new topic 'Jump on a Jungle Journey'. Our main text is Rumble in the Jungle and is linked into all aspects of the curriculum. They are very proud of their garden having grown 'reindeer noses' - radishes and lettuces. The snowmen's noses (carrots) will take longer.

April 2014

What an exciting term we had. Growing 'Snowmen's noses' (carrots), linking into 'The Rabbit Problem', which really motivated the children and also linked into our Easter activity afternoons. Thank you for attending, the children enjoyed it and you all created wonderful Easter hats.  See photographs below.

The new term will start with our Topic launch, 'Jump on a Jungle Journey' with a visit to the Monkey Forest, dressed as jungle explorers (on the second day back - Tuesday 29th April).

The curriculum information for this term is in the documents section below.

February 2014

We celebrated Chinese New Year.

The children looked wonderful in their red outfits and traditional costumes. Thank you parents for your support. We also had some visitors - Mrs Cao and Mrs Go who brought an amazing Chinese lion. The children practised writing and counting in Chinese, they made lanterns, fans and their own big dragon and paraded around school. They loved eating the noodles, rice and crackers. See the photographs below.
