What a year!
Wow! What can I say? Only that it's been an absolutely fantastic year with year four this last year. How on earth has the year come to an end already?
I am so proud of all the children who have worked so so hard and made some fantastic progress in all of their learning. I would like to personally thank the children for helping to make the year so enjoyable and fun. We have certainly had some giggles along the way!
Thank you to you, the parents, who have all been so supportive over the last year and helped the children to achieve all that they have.
I would like to wish you all a very happy, and hopefully warm Summer holiday and look forward to see you and the children back in September when they continue on their journey through the school.

Visit to the Hindu Mandir - Tiverdale
On Thursday, year four will be visiting the Hindu Mandir in Tiverdale to support their learing of the Hindu religion. I know all the children are looking forward to this visit to such a beautiful building. Watch out for pictures after the visit!
What a fantastic day Team Four had for their topic launch day. The children worked in small teams and became inventors for the day.
The task was that the children had to use 'junk recyclable' items to make a mode of transport that would carry a raw a raw egg the furthest across the school hall.
There were some trials and tribulations, successes and failures through the day but all turned out well with each team having a vehicle. Testing will take place on Monday..... log back in then to see the results.
Week One - 20-24th April
What a busy first week back we have had, has it really only been five days!
Year 4 have had an amazing start back after the Easter break and are really working hard to put the icing on the cake for their years learning.
We have started our new topic on inventions and I was thrilled to see all the homework that the children completed over the holiday - this is all now displayed in the classroom.
Our Literacy has begun with children making posters for advertising, using their powers of persuasion for guests to attend 'Rambashi's Jungle Grill' - I did say as long as it wasn't like' I'm a Celebrity...get Me Out of Here' then I could be persuaded to visit!
We also had our topic launch day (See attached document) for which we have been awarded the first 'CLASS OF THE WEEK' for the term.
Well done TEAM 4 - A fantastic start to the term!
Welcome back! I hope that you had a lovely Easter and I hope that your child is rested and ready to face the challenges of the Summer Term ahead.
Spring Term was a great success and the children all embraced the school motto of ‘Care to Learn and Learn to Care’. The Rainforest topic that we studied was fantastic and the children really developed their learning and skills in all areas of the curriculum through this topic. It was very apparent that they enjoyed their learning. The children were very brave during our fantastic finish when the animal man visited and ALL children handled an animal from the rainforest – Miss Padgham and I also had to overcome our own fears as we didn’t want to be the only ones not too hold one of the critters!
I hope you have seen all the photographs of the visit on the class page.
The children are now beginning the journey towards the end of year four and are continuing to take responsibility for their own learning. I would like thank all the parents for their continued support with your child’s learning – it really does make a difference when everyone is on board the same journey.
This term we welcome Mr Knight who will be working in the class as part of his teacher training programme. We hope he will enjoying and embrace working, teaching and learning with the children and wish him every success in his placement.
Our new topic for the Summer Term is ‘Inventions’. I hope you have enjoyed working with your child on their Easter research project. As the topic of invention is so broad we will be focussing on two specific areas – transport and communication. We hope that this will help the children to relate to their own life experiences of modern technology.
A curriculum letter is in the Summer Term area on the Y4 website page and will also be sent home in the first week of the new term.
Many thanks for your continued support and I look forward to the new term ahead where we will continue to embrace the school motto of ‘Care to Learn and Learn to Care’.
