Autumn Term

Welcome to All Star Squadron!

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday and feel ready to embrace a new school year keeping in mind our school motto of, ‘Care to learn and learn to care.’

I would like to begin by offering a very warm welcome to both yourselves and to the new school year at Parkside. We have decided that our class name will be ‘All Star Squadron’ and we shall reflect this ethos of teamwork in all that we do.

The journey into Year 3 is one where children build upon the skills they have previously learnt during their Key Stage 1 experiences and become more independent learners. I firmly believe that every child should enjoy coming to school and therefore I will always strive to make school a joyful place to learn and of course fun!

This year, I am very lucky to have support from Mrs Morrison and Mrs Barton who are very experienced and have a great depth and knowledge of Year 3. As a team we do have high expectations of all children in the class and we will continue to maintain these expectations throughout the school year.

This term’s topics is ‘Code Breakers’ which looks at the Ancient Egypt. We will be studying a variety of different aspects of Ancient Egypt including the Nile, Howard Carter and many more.

Please remember we are always here to help. No questions or concern is ever too unimportant to bring to us. If you have any queries, concerns or need information, do not hesitate to contact us or call in after school for a quick chat. If you require any further information or wish to discuss any other matters with me, I will be more than happy to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time. We all want to work with you to ensure that your child continues to enjoy school, to develop in confidence and self-esteem, and to enjoy the challenges of new learning.

This is the start of a very exciting year for the children and with your support we can all look forward to making this year a success.

Sincerely yours,

Mr G Bennett, Mrs J Morrison and Mrs P Barton
