Easter Holidays Homework
With the government tests fast approaching I can't stress enough the importance of your child completing their Easter homework to the very best of their ability. They will have a set of maths papers (arithmetic, reasoning one and reasoning two) as well as a PaG test paper to complete. They need to spend - at the very least - the 'allowed' time as shown on the front of each test paper - and longer if required! They will also have the full list of spellings from Spring Term 2 -they need to practise these ready for the test when they return to school in April. They are expected to read at least 30 minutes each day, keeping a record of this in their homework diary. Thank you for your continued support.

Monday 21st March
The children who represented the school this morning in the swimming gala have missed their Reading Test. They have been given this test to complete tonight for homework. It is due in tomorrow. There is no additional homework set for tonight for anybody.

The maths homework set today is to be completed by Wednesday 9th March. There will be no additional homework set tomorrow.
Some children also need to practise their recall of equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages - they know who they are.
February Half-Term Homework
During the half-term holiday your child has a (past SATs) maths paper and a (past SATS) PaG paper to complete. Whilst these do not test precisely against the content of the new curriculum (and therefore are pitched slightly easier) they are nevertheless still really good opportunities for your child to practise applying the skills they have been taught and to get more confident with the way in which these papers are set out.
At this stage of Year Six I am not concerned whether or not they can complete it in the time suggested (45 minutes); it is far more important that they have a go at all of the questions - and if there are any that they are unsure of, can I please ask that you help them with these (and just initial against those questions so I know that they have had some support).
In addition to this they have had their end of half-term spelling test today and if they have scored less than 15 out of 20, they know that they will be retested on this on their return to school on Monday 22nd February. Therefore it is essential that they spend some time during their week practising these spellings.
Many thanks for your continued support.

Friday 29th January 2016
As the children in Year Six have been incredible Parkside ambassador's this morning - playing host to all of our visitors to the open morning - I have allowed them a little time in class (as a thank you) to complete today's PaG homework. This has been marked in class and there is no additional homework for them to complete this weekend!
