Now we would like you to write a persuasive email to Mr Compton explaining what needs to be done to protect the school from being hacked, using your knowledge from yesterday!

Today we will be improving our sentence openers. Look at the sheet to help you, we will be focusing on adverb and verb openers. 

 

What is a verb? 

Change these sentence around so the verb as at the start of the sentences. 

 

  • I walked to the door and it flung open. 
  • She danced down the street to the beat of her heart. 
  • Bears roam the flat plains of the empty Arctic looking for food. 

Now create your own verb opener sentences about the Arctic.

Today we are moving on with our story 'Race to the Frozen North'. For todays learning we would like you to read the following section.

Today we will be looking at examples of setting descriptions and writing using our five sense.

 

1. Read the example and highlight each of the five senses with different colours.

Today we will be writing about the Arctic and what we may experience with our five sense. 

We would like you to think what you can hear, see, smell, touch and taste in the Arctic! 

I have attached some videos and pictures to help you think, you could even go and play in the snow to help you!!!

After collecting all our ideas yesterday, today we are going to concentrate on our literacy writing techniques. We are going to be focussing on Subordinate Clauses.

Today we are putting our Arctic ideas and subordinate clause learning together, as today we would like you to write five sentences about the Arctic that include a subordinate clause!

Monday 18th Jan 2021 

 

 Writing your setting description following from,

 

I snuck back to the docks and in through the gates. It was dark now. How i longed to run up onto one of the ships and hide there- stow away. That moment I crept on the closest swaying ship. Wondering where I would end up.

 

As the waves lapped against my feet I opened my eyes to see...

 

 using these techniques within five sentences

 

1. First sentence include an adjective

 

2. Second sentence uses an opener that is a noun or pronoun.

 

3. Third sentence includes the word ‘calming’.

 

4. Fourth sentence include an expanded noun phrase.

 

5. Fifth sentence has a fronted adverbial.

Tuesday 19th Jan 2021

Today we would like you to write your character description paragraph. Imagine that i have never seen this person before!

Use each of these literacy techniques in your five sentences.

Week 1 Home learning

Friday 8th January 2021 

 

Today we would like you to think where you would like to 'stow away' to. 

Create a list of nouns found in your place and then fill in the sheet bellow with supporting adjectives, verbs and adverbs. 

for example 

Tropical island: Palm Tree, giant, swaying quickly.

Hello,

 

For Mr Tatton's and Miss Boulton's classes we would like you to look at the front cover of 'Race to the Frozen North' and predict what you think may happen within the story! We would like you to pick out at least four key points within the front cover, for example the ship or the dog sled and explain how these may be used within the story.

 

For Miss Flackett's class we would like you to look at the front cover of 'Billy and the Minpins' and predict what you think may happen within the story!

 

There is no correct answer so let your imagination go wild!
