Literacy at Parkside

At Parkside, our aim is to provide a high quality education where children gain the knowledge to speak and write fluently so they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others. Through reading and becoming immersed in a variety of different texts, children have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Reading also enables them to acquire knowledge and to build on what they already know. The skills of language are essential to participate fully as a member of society and children who do not learn to speak, read and write fluently and confidently will not have the skills needed for modern Britain.
