Monday challenge...

This term we have been learning about a significant event in history, 'The Great Fire of London'. We are only able to learn about this important event because during that time people wrote about what was happening. One famous person was Samuel Pepys. We are now experiencing a historical event that children will learn about in the future.

Some of you may have already started a diary about what you are experiencing now as 5 and 6 year old children living in Stafford. I need you all to keep a diary. This will help your writing skills develop.

Your challenge starting today and continuing each and every Monday is to write an entry for your diary. Write about what has happened, what it is like learning at home, things you are missing and also what you are looking forward to when life gets back to how it was!

Remember as a Wise One author we

  • take care with our handwriting
  • start each sentence with a capital letter
  • end each sentence with a full stop
  • put a finger space between each word
  • read our sentences to check they make sense
  • think of different words to start our sentences
  • extend our sentences with and

You never know one day your diary may be published like Samuel Pepys.

Don't forget to use the phonics mats and common exception words!
