Free School Meals and Pupil Premium Grant

Re: Free School Meals and Pupil Premium Grant

I am writing to all parents to raise awareness of the eligibility for Free School Meals.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Free School Meals.
Some children will be entitled to Pupil Premium Free School Meals.

By completing a Pupil Premium Free School Meal application form, our school will receive additional funding for each child that is entitled. Even if your child does not wish to have a school meal, by completing the application form, the school will still receive the additional funding for each child that is entitled. This is called Pupil Premium Funding and is funding which is allocated to schools to help support disadvantaged pupils in their learning as well as in their social wellbeing.

At Parkside, we have made a commitment to families to use some of this funding to provide additional financial support for a variety of things.

We will:
    Pay 30% towards all educational visits when they return.
    Fund lunches through vouchers if a child is absent from school
    Provide breakfast through breakfast hampers if a child has missed breakfast
    Purchase school uniform for each child up to the value of £60 per school year. This also includes support            for tracksuits.
    Provide support for weekly food shopping where required.
    Provide additional resources to help them access Maths and Literacy – tailored to individual needs.
    Personalised additional targeted support (provided either by the teacher or teaching assistant) to support          children of all abilities in reaching their potential.
    Provide specific books to support reading in the family home.

To find out if your child qualifies for Pupil Premium Finding, you can either visit www.staffordshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or complete the attached form to the paper copy of this message, which was sent home yesterday with your child, and return to the school for office staff to apply on your behalf.  If you require any further clarification regarding the grant itself, please talk to myself or to Mr. Compton.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Stanton
