Spring Term Information

Parent Project - Easter Bonnets
Thank you for joining us to create wonderful Easter bonnets with your children. Thank you to Miss Jackson for arranging for the Easter Bunny to come along, it was a lovely surprise and many thanks to the staff from Sainsbury's who came to work with the children. We have been learning about Easter traditions and linked this to the story of Mrs Honey's Hat. The children designed their hats in preparation for the creative workshops. We also had a parade around the school on the last day of term. See photographs in the gallery.
World Book Day
The children looked amazing in their costumes. We had a wonderful day. The children were joined by year 5 who read their own stories influenced by our favourite author Julia Donaldson. See the photographs in the gallery.
Thank you parents for your support and for coming along to read at the end of the day.
Chinese New Year
We had a fantastic day. The children looked wonderful in their red clothes and traditional costumes, thank you for your support with this.We made fans, lanterns and masks. We listened to traditional stories about Chinese New Year and danced to music. We made a dragon and went on a parade with Nursery around the school. In the afternoon we had food tasting, it was lovely to see the children happily try new foods and some of them tried to eat with chop sticks too. Many thanks to Nathan and his grandma who made everyone a red envelope with a gold chocolate coin. Please see photos in the photo gallery.
Winter Wonderland
We launched our new topic with 'The Snowman' dvd, then something amazing happened...we had a snow storm! the children couldn't believe it. See the photographs in the gallery. The weather also changed and we had some real snow too! These experiences have really helped the children to explore and understand what snow is and has inspired their writing.

Welcome back!

We would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and take this time to thank you for your continued support in guiding your child through their learning journey. We hope the children are refreshed and ready to embrace the Spring Term. There will continue to be a focus on phonics this term, learning new sounds and applying them to our reading and writing. We will also focus on the reading and spelling of the high frequency and tricky words. In our number learning we will apply our number knowledge to addition and subtraction and will begin to explore money and measure.

Please take the time to read the curriculum information in the relevant folder to find out where our 'Parkside Adventure' is taking us this term...
