The Dream Team

W/C 29 - 4 - 19

Welcome back after the Easter break. We hope you all had a fantastic time with the children and managed to enjoy some of the wonderful weather that we had.

The children have all settled straight back into their routines and have been working extremely hard in what has been a short first week back.

In our Literacy we have finished writing up our Easter Story from the end of the spring term and the children were able to remember and apply all the learning that they had done before the holiday.

In our Numeracy we have been continuing with our learning on fractions. This week we have been learning about equivalent fractions, a challenging concept, but, the children have really persevered and risen to the challenge. It has been great to see them working practically and using their other mathematical skills to help them in their learning.

On Friday we launched our new class text 'The Enchanted Wood' by Enid Blyton. The children went into the woodland to find items that they believed could be magical. The two items that they chose were then used to depict their Fairy / Pixie name. There were some fabulous names such as 'Starlight Dewdrop', 'Rainbow Shimmer' and 'Odette Blaze'.

The children were then set a challenge by some evil Pixies who had captured the fairies and hidden them in the school grounds. The children had clues that had also been hidden all around the school to help them find all the fairies and return them to their enchanted tree. Luckily all the fairies were found before they lost their magic! Please see the photos page of the website for pictures.

Tuesday will be our official topic launch day for 'Walk Like and Egyptian' where we would like the children to come to school wearing either an explorers costumes or Egyptian dress. We will be completing a number of different fun activities that will emerse the children into the new topic.

Next week will be another short week due to the bank holiday but I know the children will embrace all of their learning opportunities.

Have a fabulous bank holiday weekend.
