Numeracy

Warm up

Look at the pictures below. How many different representations of 6,7, and 8 can you find?

Activity

Here are the number 6,7 and 8 numicon. Can you draw them on some paper and colour them in the correct colours as shown below?

Can you pick up one of the numicon pieces and ask your child to tell you the number it represents as quickly as they can.

Which number comes before the numicon number 6? Which numicon piece comes after the number 7? Which numicon piece comes before the number 8 numicon piece?

Take a numicon piece away- which is missing?

Can you draw a 10 frame as shown below? How many items can you fit inside a 10 frame? What do you notice about a five frame and a ten frame? (a ten frame is just 2 five frames).

Can you draw 6 objects? 7 objects? 8 objects? inside the ten frame?

Challenge

How many different ways can you represent (draw) the numbers 6,7 and 8?

Literacy

Using the clay from your packs can you create the fish who could wish? Here is a picture of him below.

Can you pinch, squeeze and mould the clay to look like him. You can use pencils or forks to add details to his body.

Don't forget to add his important fish features like his- gills, scales, tail and fins!

Leave him to dry when you are finished. If you have some paints you can paint him but this is not compulsory.

Phonics- please see google Classroom for your child's phonics lesson.
