Weekly Updates

 Week Commencing 19.09.16

This week we have been exploring shape, we made shape pizzas and talked about the shapes of the different toppings that we used, they tasted delicious! We read the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and acted out the story in small groups, we have now transformed our role play area into our very own Goldilocks Cottage.

It would be fantastic if you could go on a shape hunt in the environment and share any photographs that you take with Nursery.

We now have a weekly notice board up in Nursery to inform you about our weekly learning focus, please feel free to come in and have a look at the end of our sessions.

Week commencing 3.10.16 - 7.10.16

This week we have been looking at recognising our names through different activities. We have also been looking at the story of the three little pigs and painting our own pigs. We talked about making big anti clockwise circles, two eyes, a snout and four legs. We have started visiting the school library this week so your child should be bringing a library book home soon and they will get to keep that book for 2 weeks.

Week commencing 10.10.16 - 14.10.16

This week in nursery we have been busy baking porridge biscuits for the three bears. We made small biscuits for baby bear , a medium one for Mummy bear and a big one for Daddy bear!  We have visited the hall this week too. We did some action songs called 'wiggly woo' and 'shake your sillies out'.

In the nursery we now have a princess/fairy writing table and a superhero writing table so please feel free to pop in and have a look.

Thank you for all the bulbs you have kindly donated to nursery. We are looking forward to planting these after half term in our new extended outdoor area.

Reminder - parents evening is next week,we look forward to seeing you all.

Week Commencing 21.11.16 - 25.11.16

The last few weeks have been very busy in Little Explores.  We have been reading about Percy the Park Keeper and in our role play area, we have made Percy's hut, where he looks after his friends, the animals.  They have lots of adventures together and we have been discussing how the animals have been feeling.  Please carry this on at home and discuss feelings with your child, what makes them happy or sad.

The children have been working very hard on their writing skills.  They have practiced holding their pencil correctly so that they can write letters from their name and practice writing numbers.  Please continue to help your child at home.  If you have any questions about pencil control, please feel free to ask a member of the team.

On Wednesday 23rd November, we celebrated Red, White and Blue Day.  All of the children came dressed in the colours of the flag and we made our very own flags that are hanging in the Forrest room which we are sure you saw at the cake sale.

All of the children have had their photographs taken this week and we hope they all turn out ok!!

As Christmas is approaching, the children are now practicing the school play.  Over the next week we will be letting you all know if your child has a part and whether they need a costume.
