Welcome to our SEND and Inclusion page.
At Parkside Primary School and Little Explorers Nursery, we are committed to creating an inclusive school community where every child is valued, supported and able to flourish. We recognise that children have different strengths, needs and starting points. Some children may have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) when they join us, while for others, additional needs may be identified at any point during their Nursery or school journey.
Our approach to inclusion is underpinned by three key Parkside values:
Accessible
A strong universal provision that includes every learner.
We believe that high-quality, inclusive teaching should provide the foundation for every child to succeed. Through quality-first teaching, reasonable adjustments and an appropriate universal provision, we aim to ensure that all children can access learning and participate fully in school life.
Responsive
Teaching that adapts, removes barriers and enables success.
We recognise that some children require additional or different support to overcome barriers to learning. Through the graduated approach of assess, plan, do and review, our provision is adapted in response to individual needs. Our SEND team works alongside teachers, support staff, children, families and, where appropriate, external professionals to identify needs, provide appropriate support and review its impact.
Connected
A connected community where every child belongs, flourishes and achieves.
We believe that successful inclusion is built on strong relationships. We work in partnership with children and their families so that individual strengths, needs and aspirations are understood. By working together as a school community and with external agencies where appropriate, we strive to ensure that every child feels that they belong, is supported to flourish and is enabled to achieve their potential.
We believe that every child, regardless of their starting point or individual needs, is entitled to a safe, secure, nurturing and stimulating environment in which they can develop academically, socially and emotionally. We have high aspirations for all of our children and are committed to identifying and removing barriers so that pupils with SEND can participate fully, develop their independence and achieve their potential.
